Takumi – Sydney CBD

What’s the cheapest sushi train you’ve been to? $4? $3? How about $2.50 per plate, every plate.. if you’re a student that is. Generally cheap sushi means poor quality and ingredients but not at Takumi! Here you’ll get fresh, delicious sushi, with a variety of dishes ranging from soft shell crab to scampi.
The decor of Takumi is no frills and slightly run down, the seating is quite squishy and the serving ware is worn. But we’re here for the food not the ambience.

Scallop
Sea Urchin Roe

The sea urchin is gooey and very liquid, the strong umami flavour one usually finds in sea urchin is sadly absent from this serving of sushi.

Salmon Roe
Scampi

The scampi is fresh and plump.

Soft Shell Crab

Apart form a wide array of sushi, Takumi also fried food, noodles and desserts. That’s right you can get an entire fried soft shell crab for $2.50.

Whelk
Spicy Tuna Handroll

If you were wondering, yes, I did eat all 8 plates by myself.

Will I return?
Definitely!
