iClub Sheung Wan hotel proves that select service accommodation doesn’t have to be no frills and boring.

As its name implies, the 248 room hotel is nestled amidst the Sheung Wan district, a bustling neighbourhood surrounded by shops and restaurants. Exploring Hong Kong is quite convenient since the hotel is a short walk from Sheung Wan MTR station and bus stops. For those planning on visiting Macau, the Ferry Terminal is approximately 5 minutes away by foot.
Room
Guests can choose from a total of 7 different room types, all starting with an “i”. My room (2091) had the peculiar name of iBusiness and measured a total of 18 square meters. The room appears larger thanks to the clever use of high ceilings and large windows.

The comfortable double bed, flanked by two tiny bedside tables, takes up the majority of the room.
Directly opposite the bed is a wide, thin writing desk – it’s fitted with a desk lamp, USB ports and power outlets. Additionally, there’s a kettle, an empty mini fridge and two complimentary bottles of water.
The view from the room is authentically Hong Kong, in other words it’s of high rises. Fortunately, there are blinds to block out the cityscape.
Right next to the bed is the bathroom, that’s divided by frosted glass partitions.
Considering the size of the room, the bathroom is actually generously sized. As expected, there’s no bathtub but there is a rain shower! Attached to the wall is a single shower gel/shampoo combination dispenser.
Facilities
Despite being a select service hotel, iClub Sheung Wan has some decent facilities such as an outdoor exercise zone and several PCs set up for business services.
Food
Although there’s no restaurant or room service available, the iLounge on the 2nd floor offers complimentary coffee, tea and snacks 24 hours a day. Being located in Sheung Wan means cafes and restaurants are only a short stroll away.

Both check in and check were completed quickly and painlessly. Luggage storage is available on the ground level should you need it.
Small Details
The hotel offers complimentary Pocket Wi-Fi, which allows guests to connect up to 10 devices for unlimited local data on a 4G LTE network.
Verdict
Finding inexpensive accommodation that is decent in Hong Kong can be tricky. Luckily, iClub Sheung Wan delivers on value and comfort.
