Izakaya Yebisu is a hidden gem that lets diners experience authentic Japanese cuisine in a relaxed environment.
Food
The menu has over 100 dishes to choose from and includes yakitori, salads, sushi, sashimi, noodles and even desserts. The Grilled Wagyu Skewers are a great way to start your meal, the tender and juicy beef will certainly whet your appetite.

For a more filling dish, I’d recommend the okonomiyaki – a savory pancake that’s a crowd favourite and the grilled onigiri – a ball of rice that’s charred and crisped by the grill.

Izakaya Yebisu prides itself on using high quality ingredients, which is evident in both the sushi and sashimi dishes I ordered. The sashimi platter had generous pieces of fresh seafood including tuna, salmon, king fish, prawns and scallops.

Drinks
As an izakaya, Yebisu naturally has a wide selection of drinks including sake, Japanese beer, cocktails, wine and whiskey. There’s even a sake cart which is wheeled around the restaurant showcasing a variety of sake from across Japan.

Service
Thanks to the touch screen ordering system on each table, service is incredibly efficient but still friendly. There’s always the option to call staff to your table for anyone that is technology challenged!

Atmosphere
An essential aspect of an izakaya is a lively atmosphere – which Yebisu definitely has. As soon as guests enter the restaurant they are greeted with the traditional “Irasshaimase!” (いらっしゃいませ!) coming from every staff member. Warm lighting paired with wooden interiors creates a cozy atmosphere.
Verdict
Izakaya Yebisu is the perfect place to catch up with friends and unwind with delicious food and thirst quenching drinks!
