All of the gelato I ate in Italy

On my rather gluttonous trip to Italy (Milan, Bologna + Florence), I managed to have gelato at least once a day (sometimes twice a day). Check out every gelateria I managed to visit!

Milan

Savini Caffe is located in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Italy’s oldest active shopping mall. Their gelato is rich, creamy and topped with a cute wafer stick.

Gelateria Paganelli – This neighborhood gelateria is known for its unique flavours such as pepper pistachio but there’s also the usual suspects for less daring customers.

Garibaldi Creme – After you’ve finished exploring Pinacoteca di Brera, make sure you pop by Garibaldi Creme for an old school serving of gelato.

Terra Gelato – this newly opened gelato store has quickly become one of the best in Milan. Thanks to an open kitchen you can actually see the gelato being prepared.

Gelateria Soban – Located inside Eataly (high end food hall) in Milan, Gelateria Soban is the perfect pit stop after you’ve done some gourmet shopping.

Bologna

Gelateria Gianni – Since starting in 1976, Gelateria Gianni now has 4 stores across Bologna. I visited the store on Via S. Vitale which is right next to the famous Two Towers.

Cremeria Mascarella – I was shown this hidden gem by Mattia while on his food tour (Delicious Bologna) and it’s arguably serving the best gelato in Bologna!

Florence

Gelateria La Carraia – occupying a prime position next to the Carraia bridge in Florence, this place is always packed with customers thanks to its large variety of flavours.

Venchi – Originally a chocolate manufacturer, Venchi started making gelato in 2006 and has expanded around the world. As an international chain, their prices are slightly higher but are open late.

Le Botteghe di Leonardo – Hands down my favourite gelateria in Florence! La Botteghe di Leonardo uses 100% natural ingredients and even has sugar free options. My peach and lemon sorbet were bursting with fresh flavours and contained real pieces of fruit.

Cantina del Gelato – As I made my way down from Piazzale Michelangelo in the sweltering heat, seeing Cantina del Gelato was a godsend. This cute gelato shop serves up favorites like pistachio and stracciatella but also has quirky choices like turmeric + fig.
