Situated just a kilometre away from the CBD, Quarry House Luxury Retreat is ideal for guests looking to explore Hobart on foot or car.
Nearby, you’ll find the Domain Tennis Centre (which hosts the Hobart International) and the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. While next door, there’s an award wining wine maker Glaetzer-Dixon.
Room
As a boutique accommodation, there’s only two suites available to choose from. We ended up staying at the Alcorso suite, which is named after famous Tasmanian wine maker Claudio Alcorso. The other suite is named after Bill Lark, the Godfather of Australian whisky, and is almost identical in terms of size and layout.
As you enter the suite, you’ll find yourself in kitchen and dining area. The kitchenette is very well equipped with an induction cooktop, cooking utensils, small appliances (toaster, electric kettle), an oven and a dish washer.
There’s plenty of beverages in the kitchen including high quality tea from T2, a Delonghi Nespresso machine, a full bottle of wine, a decanter of Lark whisky and two bottles of Tasmanian beer.
Next to the kitchen is the cosy living room. There’s a leather couch and a medium sized TV which has Netflix and Foxtel connected to it.
Behind the living room is the well lit bedroom with floor to ceiling windows. An oversized king bed takes up the majority of the space.
Tucked to the right of the bedroom, you’ll find a modern bathroom with a rainfall shower. A washing/dryer machine is nestled under the vanity.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Aesop shampoo, conditioner and hand cream provided for guests.
Food
The suite is well stocked with food including an array of breakfast ingredients, Tim Tams, chocolate truffles and fruit.
Service
The owners were very proactive in providing detail information before our stay.
Having arrived early, we actually bumped into one of the owners, Terry, at the property. He kindly allowed us to leave our belongings in the room, even though the cleaners were about to arrive. Terry also checked in daily via text to see how our stay was going.
Small details
There’s a handy leather compendium filled with maps, guides and tourist information that the owners have collected and prepared.
Verdict
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Quarry House Luxury Retreat – thanks to the warm hospitality, high end amenities and the convenient location.
