The Sakura lounge is Japan Airlines’ signature business lounge at Narita Airport.

Location
Situated directly opposite passport controls, the entrance to the Sakura Lounge is easily located, look out for the sleek signage. The First Class Lounge shares the same entrance and reception.
Access
Open from 7:30 am to 10:00 pm every day, the lounge is accessible for passengers travelling in business class on JAL and Oneworld Sapphire members.
Additionally, Japan Airlines Mileage Bank members with Sapphire, Premier, and Diamond status are allowed in.
Space
Split between two levels, the Sakura Lounge is modern, clean and equipped with a variety of facilities.
The main floor (2F) is L shaped with ample seating available. Even though I was visiting during the evening rush hour, there was enough seats for everyone.
Guests will find a mix of armchairs, counter and bar seating spread through out the lounge.
Take the spiral staircase up to level 3 and you’ll find the dedicated dining area. There’s several long tables, equipped with power points, for guests to sit at.
Dining
As I was visiting in the evening, the buffet spread was set up for dinner with a good variety of dishes including:
- salad bar
- udon noodles
- penne pasta
- Mapo tofu
- beef curry
- wraps and sandwiches
- miso soup
- Taiyaki (Japanese fish-shaped cake sweets)
As I wanted to review the meal service on my Cathay Pacific business class flight, I decided to opt out of eating at the lounge.
Beer lovers will be pleased to find the self pouring beer machines available at two different counters. The soft drink machine next to it had the typical sodas but also Japanese tea and Calpis.
You’ll also find a generous selection of spirits, sake and wine.
Work
Several phone booths can be found through out the lounge so guests can take calls without disturbing everyone. Towards the back of the lounge, there’s a business center with a few desktop PCs and a printer.
WiFi was stable throughout the lounge and offered a decent speed.
Relax
My personal highlight of the lounge was the semi private massage chair rooms. The high tech chairs offers several programmed massages and have a disposable headrest cover.
Parents with young children will be pleased to know there’s a children’s play room.
Verdict
The Japan Airlines Sakura Lounge at Narita International Airport is well designed and stocked with a good selection of food and drinks.
