Tasty Thai at Eatdustry – Woolwich

With restaurant review websites and apps at our finger tips, stumbling upon a restaurant is becoming a thing of the past. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised to discover Eatdustry, a hidden gem in Woolwich, that’s serving up some tantalising Thai cuisine.

Browsing through the rather lengthy menu, you’ll find all the typical Thai dishes like pad thai and curries. There’s also a few specials such as the Yum Pla (ปลากระพงทอดน้ำปลากับยำมะม่วง), which is a whole deep fried barramundi topped with a Thai salad. In order to sample as much as we can, L and I went with the Classic Set option which has 3 entrees, 3 mains and steamed jasmine rice. All for a bargain price of $36 per person!

The entrees start with satay chicken skewers and vegetarian spring rolls, followed by a refreshing green papaya salad. The creamy peanut sauce was so addictive that I poured the leftover onto my rice!

There’s three mains in the Classic Set: stir fried cashew chicken, Massamun beef curry and BBQ lamb cutlets. The cashew chicken and beef curry were bursting with flavour and paired nicely with the jasmine rice. Whilst there was nothing wrong with the lamb cutlets, they just seemed awkward and out of place (like me at parties where I only know the host).

Even though I was bursting at the seams, I wanted to look at the desserts menu (everyone has a dessert stomach, right?). Our first pick, the Thai milk tea ice cream, was unfortunately not available that night. So instead, we settled on the coconut ice cream. The fragrant ice cream is served in a cocktail glass garnished with slivers of coconut flesh, sticky rice and candied palm seeds.

The staff were friendly and very accommodating. We actually arrived before their dinner service had started but were still seated and handed menus. Our empty plates were cleared straight away and our water was always topped up.

The restaurant has a chic, modern design with wooden tables and flooring. The large windows create an open and inviting space. If you’re a fan of al fresco dining, there’s two large tables outside, perfect to catch the cool breeze during the warmer weather.

Eatdustry was a serendipitous find. The next time, I find myself in Woolwich, I’ll be making a beeline to this Thai establishment!
