remm Tokyo Kyobashi – Hotel Review

remm Tokyo Kyobashi, opened in April 2019, is a modern hotel in the heart of Tokyo.

The hotel is located in the Kyobashi neighborhood, one of Tokyo’s oldest commercial centers. There are several up market shops, department stores and restaurants nearby.

Remm Tokyo Kyobashi is easily accessible by public transport with the Kyobashi Metro station located directly in front of the hotel. And for guests taking the shinkansen, Tokyo station (Yaesu south exit) is only 7 minutes away by foot.

For my 5 night stay, I booked a double room which measured 18 m²/194 ft² and had a rectangular layout. There was enough room for 2 guests but if you had overly large luggage it would be a struggle to place them on the floor.

Towards the large windows, was the living area of the room which was anchored by a fabric chaise lounge. On the wall opposite was a flat screen TV that had mostly Japanese channels and CNN.

In the middle of the room was a comfortable double bed. The bedding provided was decent and a pair of pajamas were placed on top.

On the left of the bed was a small shelf, a “type A” power point, USB port and light controls.

Next to the TV was a wooden console which housed a small fridge, an electronic safe, an electric kettle and some stationary. On top of the console was the hotel tablet which provided useful information like:

  • Hotel guide
  • WiFi login details
  • Safety information
  • Tourist attractions

Behind the tablet were several outlets including a handy universal power point.

The bathroom was positioned next to the entrance and was quite compact but clean. Like many hotels in Japan, the toilet had a fancy washlet bidet -which can be slightly confusing for first time users.

Fortunately, the bidet controls had English labels and were self explanatory.

The shower was quite roomy and featured a powerful rain shower.

Bathroom amenities provided were remm branded and came in large pump bottles, they were adequate and had a nice scent. Other toiletries including toothbrushes, razor, shower caps and combs were also provided and replenished daily.

The hotel was very slim in terms of facilities – with no gym, lounge or work space. There was, however, a fantastic massage chair in each room! It was a wonderful way to unwind after a long day of exploring.

For a proper massage, guests could call an outsourced company that would perform services in room.

Food & Drink

The hotel has a restaurant onsite called Arch Dining Stage and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. With such an abundant choice of restaurants in Tokyo, I skipped out on dining at the restaurant so cannot speak to the quality.

On most floors, a soft drink vending machine could be found near the elevators. If you’re feeling peckish, you can head next door to the 7-Eleven convenience store.

Two complimentary bottles of water were provided daily. Peculiarly, if you wanted tea bags, you had to pick them up from the front desk.

As I was checking in around 8:00 pm, the reception and lobby was almost empty. Check in was handled quickly and the staff member spoke decent English. Check out and luggage storage was a similar situation. Although, when I asked for any solutions to bypassing a marathon that ran in front of the hotel, the staff member wasn’t able to help.

Housekeeping was thorough and detailed e.g. placing my shoes neatly beside the bed and folding my sweater.

Small details

The phone charger with multiple outlets (USB A, USB C and lightning) was handy to have in the room as I only had a single travel adaptor.

I’d recommend remm Tokyo Kyobashi to travellers looking for a clean, no frills hotel that’s conveniently located in the Tokyo Station area.

This review was based on an independently paid stay.
