I still remember cautiously using Klook for the first time and wondering if Klook was a legit company. Fortunately, the airport transfer I booked was indeed real and quite pleasant!
What is Klook?
Klook is an online travel marketplace that is based in Hong Kong, that operates globally selling bookings and tickets. It competes with the likes of Viator, Veltra, GetYourGuide, and Tripadvisor.
What can you use Klook for?
You can use Klook to book almost everything travel related including transportation, attraction tickets, tours, hotels, SIM cards, food, and dining.
My experience of using Klook
So far I’ve used Klook a total of 5 times including:
- Airport pick up from Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) in 2022
- Airport pick up from Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in 2023
- Spa Experience at Royal Orchid Spa in Nusa Dua Bali in 2023
- Airport pick up from Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) in 2023
- Airport pick up from Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in 2024
I’ve been fortunate that all of my experiences with Klook have been positive and no issues. The airport transfers are incredibly convenient and also great value for money. For example, my last airport pick up in Bali only cost me AUD $8.49.
What are the benefits of Klook?
Using Klook has several benefits including:
Loyalty program (Klook Cash and Klook Rewards) – Klook gives you loyalty points (called Klook cash) every time you successfully book through their app or website. The Klook cash can be used to offset your next booking, do note that the Klook Cash will expire. Klook rewards currently has two levels: Explorer and Gold. In order to reach Gold, you have to spend US$380.00 or take part in 5 bookings (min. US$30.00 per booking) within a year.
Ease of use – Both the Klook app and website have a great user experience and a very easy to use. Making a booking takes only a few minutes!
Competitive pricing – I first decided to use Klook after comparing several market places and finding Klook had the lowest price for the airport transfer I was looking to book! From my experience so far, Klook has the lowest price.
Instant confirmation – with most bookings you will get an instant confirmation which is reassuring and provides a peace of mind.
Tips on using Klook
- read the instructions and policies – each booking has different instructions and polices, so make sure to read them carefully.
- check the reviews – one of my favourites features of Klook are the reviews, make sure you read them. If you decided to book an experience that has a low or no star rating, then buyer beware! Also, make sure to check how many ratings are given, I generally stick with the option that has more ratings.
- contact the provider before hand – For some bookings, you might need to contact the provider directly via email or Whatsapp. For example, with my Spa Experience at Royal Orchid Spa in Nusa Dua Bali, I had to message them via Whatsapp to confirm my booking time.
Conclusion – should you use Klook?
With any service, you should always do your research before booking. I recommend you compare a few different travel marketplaces before deciding on one.
